Thumbs Up for the Winthrop Arms

Went to the Winthrop Arms on Friday night for the first time. We got there about 5:30/6:00ish and just in a knick of time. About 20 minutes after we got there the dining room was packed. Service was good and food also was good. This place was very well priced for what you get - we had four entrees, each with a salad or soup, two appetizers, a salad and three people had sodas all for less than $100. The food was very good. For appetizers we got an order of mozzarella sticks and clams casino. Both were very good. The chicken soup was some of the best I have ever tasted outside of my mothers. Very flavorful. For entrees I had the roasted turkey dinner - stuffing was phenomenal for restaurant stuffing - it was not stove top (halleluia!). My fiance had the shrimp scampi which she liked. The mixed grill combo looked very good - it was a pork chop, lamb chop and 1/4 roasted chicken. My other friend had the broiled schrod which looked (and according to him, tasted) wonderful. They have a nice lobby to have cocktails either before or after dinner. A bit off the beaten path, it is a very good restaurant and I look forward to going back to try other menu items. Parking is tough in this residential area, but they offer valet parking - complimentary I believe. I highly recommend this restaurant.
