Hi All -- in a couple of weeks I will be hosting a party to celebrate my cousin's engagement. She and her fiance just travelled to Spain this summer, so I thought a tapas menu was in order. It's going to be predominantly Spanish, with a few closely-related mediterranean "small plates" to round out the fare. Here's what I'm thinking about serving:
Baby lamb chops marinated in honey/red wine/rosemary
Bacon wrapped dates stuffed with parmesan cheese
Caramelized Onion Tortilla
Roasted Potatos with Aioli
Eggplant with Cheese and Shrimp Sauce
Moorish pork kabobs
Bruschetta with Fava bean puree/Tomato & Basil toppings
Manchengo Cheese/Marcona Almonds/Olives/Jamon Serrano (maybe with melon? are there any good melons in season?)
I was thinking I needed another vegetable dish (I have a recipe for "Catalan mixed grilled vegetables," but not sure I'll have the time to break out the grill). I was also thinking about adding albondigas, but worry that that might make the menu too meat-heavy.
Will be serving Sangria as well, and would welcome any tips or good recipes for Sangria.
How does that sound? Any and all advice welcome. Thanks!
