Throwing my opinion in the FroYo wars

offthebeatenpath1 | Jun 23, 2008 11:14 AM

I am a HUGE ice cream fan, but never was really much for Froyo. I just alway felt like the only soft serve worth eating was from carvel (haha, I know), otherwise I ate real ice cream from Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory of Emack and Bolio.

A couple of weeks ago I was in LA on business and since there are more pinkberry's in LA than in NY (yes, i know it's hard to believe) I got myself a cup. Then, I was with a friend and she wanted to stop at Red Mango and I obliged and got myself a cup. Finally, after years and years of shopping at Bloomingdales and never having been to 40 carrots, I went and found FroYo heaven.

Pinkberry was ok, but i found it to be lacking oomph. The blend of tartness and sweetness just didn't satisfy my palate. I got it with mango topping and still I didn't feel like it satisfied my sweet tooth.

Red Mango I found better, but I found the consistently to be a bit to chemicalish, almost like hair gel.

Then I went to 40 carrots, where I tried regular and chocolate. Wow, what a huge difference. I mean, how is there any argument about who is best. The texture, the tartness/ sweetness blend, it was great. I will deifnitely be stopping in everytime i go to bloomies.
