i'm looking for thoughts on VERITAS Scott Bryan's restaurant....my opinion below
after reading Kithchen Confidential by NYC chef Tony Bourdain, I decided to see if HIS favorite restaurant was as good as he claimed.
I approached the meal with a seriously open mind not letting any of the hype sway me.
i walked out of the restaurant having eaten the BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE. this place is unparralled in my opinion, even from the initial phone call to make the reservations , i was greeted with a friendly and enthusiastic rezzie taker (how refreshing is that?)
the wine list is literally a book a half inch thick and there are like 4 or 5 sommeliers who are very easy to talk to and not pretentious or looking to hard sell some way $$$$ wine .
i had asparagus in a white truffle sauce for app & Duck for main that was cooked absolutely perfectly medium rare. the food and presentation is simple but totally solid.
i highly recommend this place for that once a year splurge, four people drinks and a 90$ bottle of wine with tip came close to six bills (which is what i was paying in rent in brooklyn before i got married)
still though this place truly rocks...
