I've noticed that when someone inquires about BBQ in KC, they are given the typical Jack's Stack, LC's, Gate's answers. I have never seen anyone mention Boardroom at 95th and Antioch. It's in the original Heyword's location. Zeemanb and I were fortunate enough to hit boardroom this week and its as good as anything in town. And its possible to get inside at noon on a weekday, unlike the Gates at 103 and State Line. I prefer Boardroom to Heyword's or Gate's. Gates brisket has a fairly high fat content, Heyword's brisket seems kind of dry.
I ordered the combo of burnt ends and nuclear wings with fries at Boardroom. The burnt ends were smokey and tender but far from burnt or even charred, more like diced brisket. Very tasty and plenty of 'em. I love the wings, although they weren't very hot but that's my opinion. They may actually be too hot for some. Fries were decent but you can't beat Gate's for the fries. Boardroom's sauce is a little on the sweet side, thick and flavorful. Its almost too sweet for me but it is very good. A little more spice would help it too.
Zeeman had the pulled pork and something else and thought it really good. He generally agreed with me on quality.
I just dont' think Boardroom get enough credit, this stuff is good BBQ and rarely if ever gets a mention here.
