Thomaston Cafe

Went to Thomaston Cafe for lunch last week after a run to the Farnsworth (Alan Magee exhibit SPECTACULAR!). I just re-read mixed reviews of a couple of years ago. If our experience is indicative, then this place is worth a stop. We arrived a little after 1. There were only a couple of open tables. I had seafood chowder and a salad of fresh greens and poached salmon. Everything was very fresh and nicely prepared. I judge a lot by chowders; this was akin to Sea Basket's perfect fish chowder, almost as good. My friend had a panini with cheese and proscuitto (sp?) and was very happy with her choice. Plenty of iced tea and refills and extra ice as requested. Desserts looked wonderful though we'd had enough. It's also an attractive place with plenty of artwork and other creative decoration.
