We recently had dinner at Thai Diva Cuisine in Sunnyside and had an excellent meal. In our view there's not doubt that its a new contender for best Thai in Queens.
We recently read a post about Thai Diva, below, and when we found ourselves in Queens for a game one evening we decided to try the restaurant. The spot has been open about a month. Thai Diva is on 46th street, a couple of blocks in from Queens Blvd and the subway. The restaurant is small, maybe eight tables or so. The owners, two sisters, couldn't be nicer or more interested in you enjoying the restaurant and their food. We spoke at length with them about the place. From the light as air dumplings to the papaya salad, the outstanding Khao Soi (loaded with two drumsticks with meat that fell of the bone), to the larb, the noodle dishes, the panang curry, etc., every dish we had was excellent. Spicing was good, they do not hold back if you ask for Thai spicy. They have a regular menu and a northern Thai menu, and one of the sisters specializes in cooking the northern dishes. Prices seemed a bit lower than other similar spots in Queens and they have a very inexpensive lunch menu. They do not have a wine or beer license but the Thai iced tea was delicious. We really look forward to returning. Its great to have a new Thai spot for authentic food, without having to return to BKK.
