Two days ago I was driving east on I-80 past Fairfield about 1 pm and saw the Texas Roadhouse sign on the right that I had seen many times before and which had always intrigued me. I didn't know until a few minutes ago that it was a chain. Anyway, I stopped there for lunch. It's a very popular place; I ate at the bar and didn't have to wait. I had their 6 ounce sirloin with a green salad and a sweet potato (butter and brown sugar). The steak was cooked perfectly as ordered (medium - hot and pink inside). It had been seasoned a lot, so much that I couldn't really taste the beef. The salad was OK, nothing special, and the sweet potato was fine. The meal started with a basket of hot soft rolls with flavored butter, which I thought was too sweet. The menu price of the whole meal was $11.99, an incredible price. If the steak hadn't been seasoned so much and the rolls butter so sweet, I would have liked the meal a lot better. For anyone who lives near this place, it would be worth seeing what you liked on the menu. For me, I probably won't be stopping there again. FWIW, the young woman bartender/order taker was very personable and good at her job.
