Thank you for all the suggestions about dining in Waco. We had a lovely time, and tried kolaches from the Little Czech Stop, ate barbeque at Uncle Dan's, tried very hard to go to John Mueller's the night we were in Austin (but it was closed. The guys closing directed us to Chile's, almost next door, which was great), and stared at all the canned greens in the supermarket. Also got to Common Grounds, which felt like home, and not like Waco at all. Oh, and went to the Dr Pepper musuem gift shop and bought a lovely cookbook which I will never ever use.
Come by the Toronto board if you're ever headed north, and I'll do the best I can to help. Incidentally, the barbeque place here in Toronto is probably better than the one we went to in Waco- Texas hounds are right, it was acceptable, but not great. And the grocery situation in Waco is terrible. I'm mailing more curry powder very soon.
