The Husband and I had the pleasure of trying Harper's Restaurant for the first time last night. We will be back for sure. What a great experience!
We started with the mushroom toast and the brussel sprout leaf salad. Amazing. The toast was crispy on the edges but soft and flavorful from the mushrooms, marsala wine, the gruyere cheese and egg. The brussel sprout leaf salad was warm and earthy. Delicious flavor. It also had an egg on top.The husband doesn't even like brussel sprouts but he ate it all up! We did order 2 things w/ egg by accident but they were both sooo good and very different so it hardly mattered.
We shared the pappardelle special for a next course. Wonderfully cooked pappardelle w/ a cream tomato sauce and caramelized onions and mushrooms. The perfect amount and very light.
Next I had the roasted chicken. Juicy inside, super crispy skin and a perfectly seasoned jus/sauce. I also really enjoyed the roasted pumpkin salad that came with it. The husband had the short ribs. They were soft and tender. Really enjoyable. But I was sold on my chicken.
We never bother with dessert but felt we HAD to have the apple fritters w/ caramel sauce and cinnamon ice cream. Wow! Hot, crispy slices of apple with the rich cinnamon ice cream was a perfect combination.
There are so many more things that struck our interest on the menu. I can't wait to return ASAP.
