Teaforest - Culver City

This is a relatively new coffee/tea & sandwich bar across the street from Beacon, on the south side of Washington just east of Helms. They offer grilled sandwiches, pre-made salads and usually one home-made soup each day. Today, I had their mushroom barley soup which tasted very much home made—like, stuff I could have made at home. It was a bit too thick for my taste but I very much enjoyed the frugal, homely appeal of it. I also had a pressed ham sandwich with very thinly sliced ham, cheese(provolone?), arugula & tomatoes. It was nice. Good, crusty bread & nice smoky ham. I’ve enjoyed their other sandwiches on previous visits. They serve Illy coffee (always a plus) and a variety of teas which I haven’t tried yet. Pleasant, clean space, a much more relaxing alternative to the always busy/noisy La Dijonaise.
