Tazza Kitchen, Arlington ... not bad at all.

Only a few days after opening, we visited Tazza Kitchen in Arlington. It's trying very hard and doing rather well.

http://www.tazzakitchen.com/

One location in a 4-location chain, it's all dark interior and wood-fired brick ovens, friendly and efficient staff, prices moderate and volume just low enough to be "not over-loud". I think it's aiming for trendy twenty-somethings from the across-the-street Gold's Gym (much like Rustico on Slater's Lane in Alexandria, but better than Rustico's)

As you will see from the menu on their website, there is a pleasant variety in their menu. There is an emphasis on locally-sourced craft ingredients, but you need to see the website for citations. My wife and I had an appetizer of five very nice oven-cooked meatballs with a bit of tomato sauce, served with crusty brick oven bread, and a 10-inch perfectly-cooked Margherita pizza, and we were happy (we have small appetites). Other apps might be even more exciting, including some definitely unique salads, and I'm looking forward to trying the flatiron steak with salsa verde, local egg and peppercorn potatoes. The website is generous in linking to the sites of their many local producers.

In short, you won't find a "name" chef or any foamed anything, but I was very impressed by both the food and the atmosphere, and I will be back soon.
