Tasting Menu Help

Bowfinger | Oct 21, 2004 03:26 PM

I'm planning on taking my friend out for his birthday and I want to do something really nice. I don't want to spend an extreme amount of money, so I was thinking about tasting menus with wine pairings.

The three that I'm currently considering are 71 Clinton ($55 for four courses, dessert not included, $25 for wine), Babbo ($65 for seven courses, $45 for wine), and Danube ($75 for five courses, $45 for wine). I also find myself really intrigued by the splurge of the Danube nine-course chef's degustation menu for $95.

Does anyone have any reviews of these or suggestions of others? I'm trying to keep it to $125 or less per person. (Could I do that at Jewel Bako maybe?) Also, I've been seeing all the raves about Devi, but my last tasting menu was Indian, so I want something else.
