Taste of Morocco -- Clarendon

Marra | Dec 16, 2003 09:30 AM

Our office held its holiday party at Taste of Morocco last Friday afternoon. We had lots of fun, and enjoyed the food very much. One caveat -- I didn't even see a menu. The person who organized it ordered a set menu for all of us to share from. Here's what we had:

Olives with spices and ollive oil
lamb sausage with spices (fabulous)
soup (had white beans in it and a green herb -- milookhiyya maybe)
b'stilla (very good -- chicken inside very nicely spiced)
chicken with green olives
couscous with vegetables
lamb with prunes/dates/ something (very good if a bit bony, but the meat fell right off the bones)

I had a couple glasses of a merlot (no idea from where) that was very drinnkable and matched the food nicely. All the guys had the Moroccan beer Casablanca. For all that food and at least two alcoholic drinks each (likely more) and a generous tip, the total was $35 each. Again, I didn't see the bill, the organizer just announced the split at the end.

I really enjoyed it, and would go back.
