Last Sunday I attended a private party at the new Tartine Manufactory next to Heath. No chance to try the porchetta that Dude Swenson has been reporting on,
But I did get to taste the crusty marble rye and watch the baking crew. And better yet, a preview of the rich and silky soft serve ice cream, made with water buffalo and Jersey cow milk.
The site worked pretty well as an event venue. We started the evening in the Blue Bottle/Heath side with cocktails by Rye on the Road and the opportunity to browse the Heath store. Then we stepped through the doors (and left our alcohol behind) to Tartine's space. The food was arrayed on the long counters for a self-serve buffet and a wine bar set up for drink service on one end.
