Tanoshi Bento is the next store restaurant to Tanoshi Sake and Sushi which has recenetly been acclaimed on this board and elsewhere for serving an affordable and quality omakase. Bento as the name would indicate serves various cooked Japanese dishes as bento.
I have been here a few times and it is well worth visiting if you are in the area. Their tempura is very well fried with delicate wisps of batter and came with a nice mix of vegetables. The pork katsu was good but nothing special. Karaage was the star, very juicy and perfectly fried.
Everything comes with a house salad (nothing special), miso soup (decent but I like a stronger fish taste), shumai, seaweed and hijiki salad. The sides are fine and round out the meal but the fried items are definitely the star. They also have bowls which i have yet to try.
Worth a shot in the area.
