Good sop buntut (oxtail soup), harmony of tomato broth beef stock and a deep array of spices.
Ikan pepes is outstanding, spiced minced fish (light and deliciously flossy fish) grilled in a banana leaf.
Pergadil, an Indonesian potato croquette, is a pernnenial favourite, I especially love the cilantro light touch.
Yellow rice, nasi kuning, cooked with tumeric, pandan and coconut milk among other, is rich and aromatic, topped with caramelized shallots for an added fragrance. A lovely version.
Beef rendang is a classic textbook rendition.
Tahu telor, tofu/bean curd fried with airy egg is an old favourite, sweetened with drizzles of a thick kecap manis based sauce, the light fried egg and bean curd contrasting with cool julienned cucumber and bean sprouts.
Sayoh lodeh, a yellow vegetable curry, is again a nice textbook example of the dish.
Es avocado, an unctuous avocado shake, sweetened with dark palm sugar. Also an old favourite. It's not perfectly smooth (bits of ice) but the flavour's great.
