Takeshi's Ramen in Glendale...meh.

Das Ubergeek | Feb 7, 200603:24 PM

I walked down Brand Blvd. with the ultimate goal of getting a scoop of faloudeh from Mashti Malone's. Well, my grandmother taught me that you only get dessert after you finish your meal, so I stopped in at Takeshi Ramen in the Glendale Exchange.

There were exactly three other people in the restaurant, in a busy business district, at noon on a Tuesday. Meh.

I ordered miso ramen with cha shu and iced barley tea. I was truthfully more into the tea after a hot smoggy walk down the boulevard than the ramen. The tea arrived and it was not barley tea but sweetened Thai tea, just minus the cream. Meh.

The ramen came and it was VERY salty -- which is okay, it is a miso broth and that can be salty sometimes It contained half a hard-boiled egg, some slices of burdock root, some seaweed, and exactly two anæmic pieces of pork. Some of the vegetables were very obviously straight from the can. Meh.

The service was fine -- the soup came very quickly, the tea came very quickly, the bill was left discreetly in a corner of the table against my eventually requiring it. $8.25 for my bowl of soup and iced tea. Meh.

Am I likely to go back? Not really. There are other Japanese places on Brand and I can get miso ramen at the upstairs food court at the Galleria. Meh.

Overall review: meh.
