Had a nice lunch at TC in Chinatown today. Started with the soup dumplings, and then the four of us split one my favorites - the beef with poblano peppers (nicely spicy today), very good salt and pepper soft-shell crab (though the consensus was PF is still the favorite), scallion pancakes which were disappointingly doughy in the center today - usually these are very good here, and the pork with mustard greens and bean curd. The friendly table next to us also offered a taste of a dish that I'd never had before, the "minced pork roll in tofu silk". It was really tasty - a fine textured pork roll wrapped in a thin layer of tofu skin with a hint of sweetness and star anise, served in several slices. I would definitely order it again, and it reminded me of the many many dishes at TC I have yet to try.
