A quick, late meal at Tail Up Goat proved just how wonderful assured cooking can be. It was hard to decide what to order, but I had heard so much about the roasted carrots that I had to try them. They have been described as 'lick-the-bowl clean' good, and although I didn't lick the bowl, I did use a finger to the same effect when a fork was not going to do the job.

As delicious as they were, I was still not prepared for a vegetarian plate that consisted of zucchini with burnt bread sauce, chantarelles, jalapeños, cherry tomatoes and a few other items. This was a wow moment.

Before the meal, an amuse 'brush' of watermelon juice, cider vinegar, and herbs was equally applaud-worthy.

All was right with the world. Hardly a cheap meal, but a sheer delight.
