Some sweets, London

• Cinnamon and cardamom roll @ Scandinavian Kitchen, Fitzrovia
Wonderful blend of spice flavours, true to Scandinavian baking. The dense bready roll with small bubbles has the perfect texture - it is just very slightly springy, the bread yielding with a plush cushiony feel. Slightly warm, freshly made. Bonus: a strong cup of coffee from Monmouth beans.

• Dulce de leche stall @ Churros Stall on Charing Cross Rd (west side of the street between Newport Ct and Shaftesbury Ave)
OK at best, a simple condensed milky dulce de leche, not as rich and complex as I would have liked. The churros were warm and properly fried, but could have been lighter. Wahaca does a better version.

• Viennse whirl @ Chouette, Marylebone
Amazing butter cookies, as light as an illusion, disintegrating in the hand at a touch, the magic of butter. It's barely held together by an extremely (overly?) sweet cream-like filling, with a thin spread of raspberry jam for a fruity dimension. Will give you diabetes.
