Sushi Tenn

Stan | Aug 31, 200405:27 PM

I had a very mixed lunch at Sushi Tenn. It was surprising, since they seem very serious about everything. I had three appetizers (tuna with grated yam, salmon and albacore salad, and yellowtail collar) and the sushi lunch special (salad, miso, nine pieces of sushi, and a tuna and cucumber roll). The appetizers were good. The most interesting was the yellowtail collar. You take off the cardboard-like skin and there's fish in various colors and textures, all of which benefits from a small amount of soy sauce. The salads were interesting and thoughtful in both their contents and preparation, for example combining seaweed and corn. The albacore in particular was good on its salad. Even the tuna and cucumber roll was good (no spicy tuna here). So even though nothing rated excellent, there was much to write about. The great difficulty with the lunch, I'm sad to say, was the sushi, most of which was flavorless, and I mean flavorless. I don't know if they just had a bad morning at the fish market, or if I'm not enough of a regular to rate the good stuff. Oh well. In any case they are having their one-year anniversary today, so bottled water is free and the whole tab is 20% off. You could make a good dinner out of just the appetizers if you wanted to give them a try.
