I went to the new Sushi Senin on 33rd between Park and Madison yesterady with my wife and 19 month old. This is their new location and the decor etc is decidedly much nicer than what they used to have on 34th street.
The dinner was a memorable experience. It reminded me of why I fell in love with Sushi in the first place. We started off with 'spicy salmon carpaccio' and 'king crab sanin'. The carpaccio was truly great. It was very, very thinly cut slices of salmon topped with a crunchy topping and a mildly spicy sauce. It felt as if the fish dissapeared as soon as it hit the tongue and all you had was a lot of flavor and the crunch in your mouth. Unbelievable. King crab sanin was good - though not spectacular.
Then we ordered some pieces of sushi and a roll. The uni was the best I have ever had - The toro was gorgeous. Each individual piece was a treat.
The staff was very attentive and friendly and they were really nice to our loud and messy 19 month old. The place is extremely kid friendly. They dont scowl or ignore you if the kid throws a spoon on the floor and you neeed another - ( which is just so common in NYC) .
They have high chairs, and all kid paraphernalia and will make small dishes for kids ( like we got her a bowl of rice and chicken yakitori with no soy or pepper).
Strongly recommend the place for the food and even more if you want to have fine food with a young one.
