Sushi rice question

I make my own sushi every once in a while, and I make it as soon as the rice cools. But I need to make some California rolls for a teacher dinner, but I work all day. Can I make my sushi rice in the morning and then come home around 3 and make my sushi? Should I put a damp towel over the rice so it doesn’t dry out! Any advice would br great. Thanks
