Sushi Beginner: Midtown East??

Rete | Mar 19, 2004 12:29 PM

Hi everybody,

I guess I consider myself a "sushi-beginner". We (hubby and I) have realized that we like sushi a lot, but usually stick to the basics (tuna, salmon, yellowtail). We try to go a lot to Hasaki, but it's a bit far from where we live.

My questions are:

1. A good place to eat sushi in Midtown East? We live at 55th/2nd ave, so anywhere we can walk to would be great. Also, some place that is not terribly expensive, so we can go there once a week.

2. What else can we have? I mean, what kind of fish would you recommend and what other things? We love tofu, tempura, soup, shabu-shabu...but are willing to try new things. So any recommendations on japanese foods are welcome.

Sorry if the questions seem a little silly, but I have been reading the board for a while and it's great! Got lots of ideas and can't wait to try them. Thanks everybody!!
