Surprising Seafood: McCormick & Schmick

A fan of Sansom Street Oyster House, I was pleasantly surprised by all aspects of this large business-person's Center City restaraunt. (near Juniper and Market).

Had a pleasant New Englandy seafood aroma in the room. Extensive menu, with all sorts of fresh catch listed. Very reasonable lunch prices: almost all platters $10 or less, including shellfish. Platters on nearby tables were quite large, and looked interesting. Menu choices a bit less traditional than Sansom St. Oyster House, which was fine with me.

Clams Casino were six plump juicy fellows, with just the right amount of seasoned bread crumbs and crisp bacon. At $5.25 for six large sized clams, this was a great appetizer to share. My friend and I also shared a shrimp, scallop, morel mushrooms and noodle dish in lobster sauce that was scrapeable good. Because we shared we had room to share a dessert. All looked special in their own way, but the warm blueberry or marionberry cobbler with a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top was a winner. Service was easy and pleasant.

Prices weren't such a huge bargain at dinner--but what a winning lunch choice. So nice to have a second sea food choice downtown.
