Supermarket as Tourist Destination

Right now there is a thread on another Chowhound board where posters are re-living their happy experiences browsing in foreign supermarkets. This got me thinking that international visitors to Chicago, staying downtown, might enjoy a visit to the new Mariano's supermarket over East Randolph to Benton Place, all right across from Millenium Park. And even visitors from nearby might like to know that Mariano's is also a great place to grab a meal (elegant but inexpensive) since it has a generous selection of self-service hot dish bars, salad bars, sandwiches, pizza, gelato, all kinds of good stuff with lots of sit-down tables---and live piano music. From Michigan Avenue walk east on Randolph until you have crossed Columbus Drive, then veer left at Chase Bank and follow the crowd. Mariano's website has a small area map.
