I'd gone in before to pick up a menu and found the place hot and empty, but finally went tonight and am so glad I did. First, beef tataki-- a large plate of chewy, flavorful beef, nothing like the thin, slightly dry carpaccio I have had lately, and not sauced like the last beef tataki I remember having had at Yabu. That was a while ago. A big bowl of enoki butter (which I cannot resist) and another of agedashi tofu. Big squares of medium-firm tofu with a light but pliant skin-- in broth, with crisp julienned nori. All this and a small otokoyama: $25. Plus they had fans.
