Thanks to all the previous contributors who have had very informative posts. Reading previous threads has been much more helpful than the google searches that turn up websites and articles all with the same "top 10 must eat restaurants in Paris".
Some background info for our trip:
We will be in Paris this week for 4 nights. The aim of this trip is to just take in the city and enjoy some good food and pastries. I've previous been to Paris a few times for work where work unfortunately occupied most of the time and meals were an afterthought (lots of train station and hotel food).
From the previous threads I've already booked Montee for lunch on Tue and am looking forward to it.
However, I would appreciate if there are any other recommendations for more informal not tasting course style restaurants? The kind of restaurants Parisians would go to for a good meal with friends but not necessarily a special occasion? For example - on the previous business trip I do recall the one meal that stood out as enjoyable was at Chez Michel. It was my first experience with non-touristy French food. I liked the combination of casual atmosphere and interesting/good quality food.
For reference we're from Austin TX so while we have good food here my standard for Parisian food is probably lower than locals or those who frequent this forum. I'm looking for nice & enjoyable but doesn't need to be the absolute best/life changing (I assume it will be very good anyways from our perspective).
Also if it makes a difference our group is comprised entirely of people who can't/don't know how to drink wine so quality of wine list/offering has not value to us. (pity us - but we'll make up for it by overindulging in buttery pastries :))
Location is flexible but preferably in the central part due to the limited public transport. We're staying near Place des Voges
