We're looking to treat my dad for Father's Day. (The meal does not have to be that Sunday but should be sometime around then). My dad's favorite "past-time" is to wake up at 3 am to go to Fulton Fish Market to pick up some fish (always toro, uni, and some other variety), and then come home and eat it with a piping hot bowl of rice. He does this once a month. The man loves his raw fish!
Price is really not an issue, maybe around $300/pp. Ambiance is definitely not a concern, the night is more of an adventure for the mouth than the eyes. There will be 5 people in our party and 1 is not an adventurous sushi eater so he will not be ordering Omakase. (Is it still possible to eat at the bar?) And my dad has a very hardy appetite when it comes to fish and I know he will not be impressed if he leaves the place still hungry, regardless of how great it was.
Suggestions? The restaurant can be anywhere in the New York City area.
