So I haven't posted in a while, but I have to rave about this great little bakery I visited today. As anybody in Cedar Park knows there is not a bonafide bakery in the city. There was one called Wildflower Bakery, but it did not impress me, and for unknown reasons it met its demise. Well....I have been watching for the past few weeks, a new bakery going up in Wildflower's old storefront, and became very excited at what the possibilities might be here. In driving down the street today, I saw a Grand Opening sign in the window, so I turned around and went in. Here is what I found....
Sugarbakers Bake Shop is the best new business to come to Cedar Park in a while (in my opinion)!!! The store front and interior is beautiful. Well put together, but VERY comfortable. It just felt good to be inside the doors. However, I don't eat the interior so I was delighted to see the selection behind the counter. (In fact I was told that since today was their first day open, they called it their "dress rehearsal day", they didn't have everything out and made yet). But what was there looked delicious and I couldn't wait to try the sweet treats tempting me behind the glass. Their sign says they serve cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and specialty cakes. But I also saw some candied nuts in the case, and was told there would be a few more surprises coming. The cupcakes all had catchy names and looked delicious. I tried the Honey Sunshine Bun (this would be the best breakfast treat...beats a cinnamon roll any day) and one called the Ding Dang (a home made version of the classic Ding Dong). They also have a signature cookie called The Sugarbaker. A large round shortbread cookie with icing to die for, this cookie literally melted in my mouth. I ended up buying a few more for the road. The cupcakes were moist, attractive and just plain delicious. They look professional but taste like home-made. zyou can tell these were made with love from scratch.
All in all I am so excited this bakery has come to Cedar Park. The owners were so inviting and friendly, the place was nice to be inside of, and the product I have tasted so far will keep me coming back. Hopefully I will become a recognized loyal customer. I recommend anybody in Cedar Park/Round Rock or any other neighboring city try this place. In my opinion it is even worth a drive from Austin for what they have to offer.
I would love to hear if anybody else discovers this place and what they think. I was told they don't have their website up and running just yet, but will be in place soon, so for now you have to just check it out! Maybe I'll see you there.
