Along a bleak stretch of road north of downtown San Jose, sits an oasis of good food and sly style. With a red themed interior and a comfortable outdoor seating area lined with mature banana trees, the Grecko Grill offers a nice range of updated Mexican favs. I had the chicken avacado salad (half order) which was beautifully arranged with grilled zucchini, red and green peppers, a load of marinated skinless chicken, half an avocado,
lettuce, and a nice cilantro oil dressing on the side. A little ceramic dish in the middle nested black beans drizzled with queso fresco which I immediately tossed on to the salad. The lettuce was crisp and the whole thing worked beautifully.
The house chips were double thick and greaseess and the guac was perfectly chilled and creamy. The Mexican cheese steak torta was generous and surprisingly yielding from the high bun through to the meat.
The also have quesedillas, wraps, burritos. tacos and shrimp dishes which in passing looked exciting and well prepared.
