Strip House review---mmmmmm!

It's been a few years and many enticing CH posts here since my last visit.

It was better than remembered.

Particularly enjoyed the service and treatment, especially two women alone.

Fine table, good explanations and "support" with trying new things, recommendations, etc.

While the room gets noisy later (we had a 6:30 reservation, promptly honored), we could hear each other without difficulty (though music is a tad loud)

We each had a cocktail. Then I had the Bibb salad with Stilton Cheese (not too light nor heavy). Sister had the special foie gras "hash". Probably one of the more memorable preps ever had--US and in Europe. Large chunks of seared foie (great crusting) with potatoes, bacon, carrots.

Both had the Rib eye, bone in, medium rare. It was one of the first times when medium rare was exactly the way I like it. Not too rare and not at all medium (half came home for dinner Sat). We did the Goose Fat Potatoes (high end home fries--small portion--not a requirement next time but good), sauteed mushrooms and steamed broccoli (the later as a "palate" cleanser). The 3 apps worked well when mixed in together along the steak.

Really like the bordelaise sauce--intensified the rich steak flavor. Loved the crusting of the steak too.

2 Icewines, 2 desserts (creme brulee and crepe souffle--both skippable) and one expresso.

Didn't have the heart to order the chocolate cake as I would have had to eat it myself--and I know it serves 4-6 (and I didn't want it home with me either).

Total bill for 2 about $300.

Steak is not something I can have too often but a visit here is prescribed for at least once a year (right after you have your cholesterol checked).

We will return--here rather than any other steak house in Manhattan. It's fine dining a la steak and no overdose of testosterone.
