Stretching food with beans

iheartcooking | Aug 9, 201509:54 PM     35

Posting about my soup with beans mishap made me realize that I need to ask about how I can stretch my food budget with beans.

Since my boys have grown bigger my husband complains that there's no longer leftovers of anything. I really can't just make more meat or we will go broke. So I would like to use beans to get more protein cheaply. Is this practical?

I rarely serve bread, rice, or potatoes. I realize beans also have carbohydrates but they are nutritious.

As usual my post is all over the place but I'm basically looking for ideas how to use beans (or some other protein?) to stretch our meals out a bit.
