A Strange Thing at Mastro's.

Made reservations for V-Day dinner here about two months ago. Was told they would have a fixed surf-and-turf menu. Seeing as this was my first visit to this place, I was a bit let down. Decided to go anyway.

Arrived at 8:30, waited 45 minutes for a table (spent this time at the bar, quaffing a martini. Positively lethal stuff).

Upon sitting at the table, the waiter informed us that the "special Valentine's dinner" was only being served until 9PM (it was then about a quarter after).
He somberly informed us we would have to order off the menu. ANYTHING off the menu?, I asked. Yes, was the answer. We could hardly contain our excitment.

Is it just me or this a little weird? A special price fixe meal being served for a portion of a special occassion evening, and then the ENTIRE menu being opened up later.

BTW, my bone-in ribeye, and her petite filet, were incredibly delicious. Thank God for the seating delay...
