Stinging Nettles in my Rapini!

janniecooks | Oct 21, 201804:59 AM

Thought I'd share a word of warning for store-bought broccoli rabe. Yesterday while cleaning the bundle of rabe I started to feel severe stinging. Initially thought it was just a fluke but then it got much worse, so on closer examination of the greens I'd rinsed I found a few sprigs of stinging nettles intermingled with the broccoli rabe. Picking apart the rest of the bunch revealed numerous sprigs mixed in. So beware and look through your rapini very carefully - the stinging from the nettles is most unpleasant. This never happened before in years and years of buying rapini!
