Stella Sera- rescued dinner, almost.

We had reservations at a small bistro which were made based on recs by friends and one previous week night visit by a member of our party. The Friday night crowd rivaled the noise created at a Manchester United football game. We paid drinks with a very healthy tip and excused ourselves.

We were able to get a four top at Stella Sera in Chestnut Hill. Nice place, half full perhaps. All selections were quite tasty and very small. Let me add I do prefer smaller dishes so this was not a negative until one relates the portions to the price. The service was good enough, our waiter was very professional, helpful and friendly. With four small arugula salads, two pasta bowls (very small) a veggie dish, two coffees and one desert rang up to $140.00 with out tip. Cash payment comes with a 10% discount. Some how with this simple math problem no one at the table came up with the same adjusted bill that was suggested to reflect the discount, we paid with credit cards. Also the Chestnut Hill State Store is under construction which I am sure does not help them as they are BYOB. There was not corkage charge. This said , I like the place and the food but I would think twice when considering a return.
