Starving Artists at the Drake : review

listen | Mar 23, 2006 09:39 AM

So myself and friends got lured in by the promise of 1/2 price menu items & cheap booze at the Drake Cafe (between 6-7 weeknights)

A good meal! Especially considering the prices!

Two people had the drake burger with side ceasar: My SO loved the ceasar salad, the burger was massive and nicely seasoned with lots of toppings

I had the braised beef cheeks with wasabi mashed potatos, which was really quite good, beefy, tender, a tad heavy on the salt, but with the potatoes, it was totally good (a steal at $9)

The fourth person had the Sake Salmon, which appeared to be a little over done, but rare in the centre, she liked it...

Desserts were OK, I tasted the carrot cake which was really dense and full of rasins, and I also tasted the flourless chocolate cake which was, well, chocolately!

Service was great and fun, and the "Starving artist Red" (a cave springs Cab/Merlot) surprisingly good ($4)..

Overall a great place to get a bit to eat at super reasonable prices, I'll definitely go back (but only between 6 and 7pm :)
Dinner for 4 of us, including wine and beer and desserts came to only $80!!!!
