Stanwycks are unbelievable, a white fruit that doesn't taste like any other white nectarine. There's a huge burst of slightly tart flavor with a full sweetness, hard to describe. They are my favorites. The skin is most unattractive, yellowed and bumpy, the shape elongated instead of a round sphere. I buy the dried stanwycks all winter, the grower currently has them fresh off the tree.
Only one place I know to buy them; Wednesday Farmer's Market in Santa Monica, on 3rd street north of Arizona, east side of street. They are an organic farm that mostly sells dried fruits (and nuts I think?)
If you get there early, please leave some for me.
