Stanley's Pierogi

Been spending a lot of time at the Met Oval soccer field and passing this pierogi store on metropolitan in Ridgewood/Maspeth. Finally stopped in to get some. Am a big aficionado of single item stores—I figure if they only do one thing, then they should do it pretty well.

Am happy to report that these are some fine pierogi, particularly the meat. We got meat ones and potato ones. Potato ones were good, but the meat were just incredible. The filling had intense porky flavor, like it was cooked in lard, and great fluffy texture. Kind of like a Polish carnitas that has been put through a meat grinder. Filling is just pork, salt, pepper, and maggi, so some of the deliciousness may be a little msg kick from the maggi seasoning.

Anyway, if you're in the market for some fresh pierogi to take home and cook, I recommend the place.
