hello home cooking friends,
alas, my boyfriend of 4.5 years and longtime cooking partner is moving out, and he is taking his huge collection of all-clad stainless cookware with him.
i can't go back to lightweight pots and pans. until i have more $$ (or a birthday), though, all i really need is a nice big stainless saute pan, i think. i am planning on buying a lidded 3 qt pan such that i can sear and saute meats/fish, but also simmer soups/sauces. (see link to the all-clad version of this pan)
first question: does this make sense, for my "one pan"?
second question: is there a viable alternative to all-clad? i've been so spoiled. i know they're well-made, but on some level, one is paying extra for the famous name, right? does anyone know of any lower-priced, high-quality heavy stainless cookware that you can recommend? help a single girl on a grad student budget (whose rent just doubled!!! :()
thanks so much....
