Sripriphai's new look

Janie | Nov 12, 2004 12:03 AM

Hadn't been to Srip since its recent makeover, and went tonight...I thought it was very bizarre....but the servers all looked was as good as ever, thank goodness......although I still struggled as usual to get my shrimp with green curry with bamboo shoots and not eggplant...if you order green curry shrimp and don't want the eggplant, sometimes they put pineapple even though you tell them you want bamboo shoots...they got it right the 2nd time...the waiter was very nice....everything else was great.....shrimp with black pepper and garlic, drunken noodles with beef and basic and chili, chicken satay, coconut rice...and of course, iced tea.. picked up dessert from La Flor...amazing banana tart, and delicious chocolate mousse getting my thanksgiving desserts from them......
a great night in woodside!

Oh, it was kinda funny when we sat down, there were 2 guys next to us, who couldn't get used to the new atmosphere either, they said to ask for our food spicy, because they thought theirs was toned down. Ours came spiced just as was crowded with Thai regulars, and you can tell there were some new faces there--perhaps from the Times article...waiter said they are going to refinish the old space, and connect the old garden with another rock garden...sounds looked good, it just kinda felt weird,,,After all these years, I had gotten used to the bad lighting in the other place--but this was definitely more comfortable...and they still got that tv, although now it looks like a plasma screen.......times they are a changing....:)
