Sprinkles - a 3 Cupcake Review (ok, 4)

Suebee | Apr 21, 200503:55 PM

Was in BH this AM and decided to try Sprinkles.
Tried (just a tiny slice of each):
- coconut with coconut frosting and shredded coconut
- chocolate with vanilla frosting and chocolate sprinkles
- red velvet with cream cheese frosting
- chocolate with chocolate frosting and chocolate sprinkles

I know there's some question on this board and others about the cupcake's validity/worth/value. But let me tell you, these cupcakes are fabulous and help me clarify the issues.

First, they are simple (chocolate/vanilla, etc.), they are quick and completely whole little treats (sometimes a slice of cake feels..incomplete), and they are just so darn cute.

Sprinkles cupcakes are moist, but light, with a good amount of frosting, and have incredible flavor. My favorites were the coconut and the chocolate w/chocolate which, in my humble opinion, beats Joan's on 3rd. Cupcakes, to me, should not be too intensely flavored or weighty. These are fluffy with creamy frosting and even the sprinkles are tasty (i guess they should be at sprinkles!).

You know, if cupcakes are just not your thing, these probably won't change your mind. But if you are a cupcake fan, I'd check out sprinkles. Oh also, the staff was friendly and they are definitely going for the whole Boule/Jin precious patisserie vibe.

Thanks for letting me share!
