Best spots for reading/studying/working with good food

betterbeheaven | Jul 18, 201508:59 AM     22

I frequently like to spend a quiet evening or afternoon alone at a cafe either reading or working, and while I have a robust list already, I'm always interested in hearing about other places (particularly ones that have decent food so that I can have a light meal too).

My spots:

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream (East Village) - Spacious, well-lit interior with plenty of large tables and free wi-fi. No food, but there are pastries and ice cream (of course) and open fairly late.

Stumptown (Greenwich Village) - Beautiful space, free wi-fi. Decent number of tables but they are small and tend to be occupied. Assorted pastries and sandwiches from Meat Hook. Open until 8.

Maman (Soho) - Great food (salads, quiches, pastries), free wifi. There are big tables in the back and outlets, but can be hard to find a seat. Room also tends to get stuffy. Open until 7.

Whynot (LES) - Lined with (tiny) seats and tables, good for solo working. Pastries, no food. Open late. (Might have to put away laptop after certain hour though?)
