For Thanksgiving I plan to make my mother's great pumpkin pie receipe. I'll be using 2 tsp. cinnamon, 1 tsp. nutmeg, 1/2 tsp. cloves, 1 tsp. ginger, 1 Tbl. vanilla, along with the requisite brown sugar, salt, eggs, evap. milk and pumpkin.
I have not used these spices in several years. My question is: how long do spices last before they start to deteriorate and no longer can be used effectively as a seasoning with a zing? Thanks.
