Online Services & Delivery

After months of intention, I finally tried a Sunday order from Spiceland. This is a kind of Keralan catering operation with a somewhat unique delivery format. There is no brick-and-mortar or truck; one subscribes to receive weekly offers via WhatsApp, which typically include numerous dishes and a minimum order quantity. What finally got me was a special "feast" offered for Onam (pictured). I placed an order 2 days prior, then met a driver in the Crossroads Mall lot, and paid in cash.

Most of the dishes I had never tried before. There were more sweet dishes than I would expect (or prefer), but perhaps this is unique to Onam (?). Our favorite items were the avial, parippu (dal curry), thoran (dry shredded veg curry with coconut) and rasam (very hot and sour, with tomato). I would definitely order again, circumstances permitting.
