Source for inexpensive marzipan?

Caitlin Wheeler | May 9, 2002 12:34 PM

I have a fabulous almond cake recipe that's super easy, and it requires marzipan. I can buy it at the grocery, but the recipe requires 2 tubes, and at $5 a pop, it's getting expensive. Plus, the tubes (Odense) don't have the intensity of almond flavor I'd really like.

Any alternative sources for good, inexpensive marzipan? I can't make my own as I don't have a food processor and don't have any place to put a food processor if I got one.

Thanks.
