This WF just got an order of Cowgirl's SF Drake. It is perfect

Cowgirl's SF Drake washed-rind cheese

From this blog with photos:

"The official story is that it’s a very limited special cheese – not a regular production cheese – and it’s a treat! It’s not mentioned on the Cowgirl Creamery website and unfortunately, to those not Bay Area-based, it’s only available in the local area and mostly in their own retail shops"

BTW, those are macerated currants on top. I didn't have my glasses on and didn't read the blog till I started eating the cheese. I thought it was mold and cut if off ... fortunately retrievalbe.

Thanks for the tip, Melanie.

I just noticed this WF which has been open about a year I was told. They also carry the wonderful Alexander Valley pickles and saurkraut. I'm really happy about this., Though the Napa WF is larger, parking is always a pain. It is easier to get in and out of this store.

The staff in Sonoma is really wonderful, helpful and knowledgable, especially the woman taking care of the cheese counter.

She said that Cowgirl delayed the delivery a week so the cheese would be perfect. She was also very helpful with a number of other questions.

They also are currently carrying Andante's Figaro which is wrapped in fig leaves. It is my favorite Andante cheese. There were some nice Spanish sardines at the cheese counter. I'm sorry I didn't take the offered taste, but at the time I was stuffed.

I prefer Sonoma Market overall. They have a better prepared food section. However, despite asking a number of times, SM still doesn't carry the saurkraut and only the pickles. The cheese counter is better at WF. Help with cheese at Sonoma Market is ... absent.

Anyway, nice store.
