I'm a breakfast girl and have mourned, with my neighbors, the long ago demise of B & D deli and of Family Restaurant. We now have at least the beginnings of a breakfast place in Sonny Boy which took over the old Café Nicholas space. They've redone the interior into a fairly attractive grunge industrial chic, have a full bar, and a limited but promising breakfast menu. The good news first: decent coffee and very good baked goods. My husband's blueberry muffin was stellar and the toasted raisin nut bread was excellent. We understand the baked goods are made in house. Simple eggs over easy and bacon were very good though no home fries come with them. The menu is small: pancakes, potato pancakes, eggs with bacon, sausage or ham, and I think maybe an egg sandwich or two. The staff is sweet and anxious for you to like them and this new endeavor. They say they use a lot of organic and local produce and the bar looked attractive. We'll come back and report on dinner and we hope to encourage them to diversify the breakfast options but we're very glad to welcome them to the "hood." Along with Brothers on Harvard they've expanded our AM options.
