Smallish catered function in Worcester, ideas?

momjamin | Feb 12, 201103:58 AM

Hi folks -- My grandfather is turning 90 (Lord willing) in June, and we're hoping to pull together the scattered family to celebrate. I would guess there'll be about 3 dozen, so not a huge event, but too big for the patriarch's house/backyard. Looking for a restaurant/hotel with a function room, an outdoor facility with catering (SAC park in Shrewsbury was mentioned), or somesuch.

Children ranging from 3 months to young teen, majority in the 6-11 age range. Cuisine suggestions include Italian, BBQ, clambake. Budget not too extravagant. Some relatives are more omnivorous than others. Since it's June, we assume we'd be competing somewhat with weddings (although our smaller size might make it easier).

I live in Acton -- my mom and her brothers no longer live in state, so I'm the closest to the Worcester area, but not very familiar with much besides my grandparents' house and the chain restaurants at Blackstone Valley.

Speaking of SAC park -- the uncle who most recently lived in Worcester heard they did a renovation recently, but I don't know what the place is like, and they don't seem to have their own web site. Anyone familiar with it/their functions?

Thanks much!
